Mayville FFA Teams Compete in the Wisconsin Envirothon
Wisconsin Envirothon is our state’s ultimate middle and high school environmental science challenge. This is also the WI FFA State Environmental Science Contest.
Students participate in the hands-on, outdoor field challenges designed by natural resources professionals and educators. This day-long event is an excellent opportunity for students to develop leadership and communication skills.
Five hands-on and practical stations test students' knowledge and application of environmental skills. The five stations include:
- Aquatic Ecology
- Forestry
- Soils and Land Use
- Wildlife
- Current Issue Presentation
We had two teams compete, one middle school team from the STEAM - 8 Ag/Environmental Science students from semester 1 and semester 2. Also had one high school team made up of students from the Conservation of Natural Resources class.
Middle School Team: Layla B., Keira E., Hannah H., Emma N., and Isabelle R.
High School Team: Hailey M., Natalia S.K., Cammie S., and Addy Y.
The Middle School team placed 4th in the state and earned 3rd place in the Current Issue Presentation. Congratulations to all who participated!
We want to thank the following people for helping our teams with the contest: Mrs. Grace Loomans, Mr. David Westphal, Mr. Greg Clark and Ms. Melody Rex!
